Seventeen years inside the system
Life doesn't always go the way we plan. But sometimes, that's exactly where our real story begins.
A few years back, I had an accident during my high school years. The doctors said I wouldn't walk again. They said I'd be handicapped, that my life had changed forever. But I refused to accept that as my story.
I'd always wanted to be a hairdresser, and I came to Australia chasing that dream. But it fell apart soon after I arrived, when I realised I wouldn't be able to stand for the long hours the job demanded. It was a hard thing to let go of.
So I found a desk job and pursued related study, stepping into work within the education sector as a Consultant and Administrator. I discovered something I was genuinely good at. That job became the beginning.
From there, I built a career in education and compliance leadership, managing teams, running operations, and leading organisations through their most critical moments. I never looked back.
Now I lead and I teach, because I know what it means to overcome, to rebuild, and to find strength in places you didn't expect.
Today, that journey shows up in everything I do as a mentor guiding compliance teams and aspiring auditors, and as a speaker sharing this story with students and staff who need to hear that one setback doesn't have to be the end of the plan.
